A young NBA YoungBoy fan was arrested over the weekend for assaulting an elderly employee at the venue. The incident took place at the rapper’s show at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City on September 21st.
The Kansas City Police Department received a call at around 9:30pm, with a minor later arrested for assault.
According to KCTV5, the attack resulted in two victims, including a T-Mobile Center employee, who were taken to the hospital with injuries.
The Daily Mail reports that the child was 14 years old, while one of the victims was 66-year-old Thomas Schlange. He suffered a broken nose and damage to his eyes after allegedly asking the kid to move to his correct seat.
Many videos of the incident surfaced online, which showed the young boy throwing Schlange to the ground before throwing punches at him.
The vice president of sales and marketing for T-Mobile Center, Shani Ross, shared a statement about the incident.
“We are aware of an incident at last night’s NBA YoungBoy concert in which multiple T-Mobile Center team members were assaulted by a fan,” she said. “The incident was captured on video and has been provided to local law enforcement. Our immediate concern is the well-being of our staff who sustained serious injuries. After receiving prompt attention from on-site First Aid personnel, they were later treated at a local hospital.”
She added, “The safety of our employees and guests remains our top priority. Safety protocols are reviewed for every event, and we are fully cooperating with law enforcement regarding this matter. This isolated incident does not reflect our venue, our city, or the thousands of guests of all ages who enjoyed the show without incident. Violence of any kind is unacceptable at T-Mobile Center, and we remain committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all.”
The show was part of YoungBoy’s Make America Slime Again Tour, beginning on September 1st and concluding on November 12th.
