Diddy Sentenced To 4 Years In Prison

Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs has been sentenced to 50 months in prison. Judge Arun Subramanian handed down the penalty in a Manhattan federal courtroom on October 3rd.

Combs was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution in July following an eight-week trial.

The jury agreed that Combs arranged for paid male escorts to travel across state lines for drug-fuelled sexual performances with his girlfriends, while the rapper recorded videos and masturbated.

Each of the prostitution charges carried a 10-year sentence, meaning 20 years is the maximum amount of time he faced.

Prosecutors pushed for 11 years and three months. Combs’ defence team requested 14 months, which would see him released this year after time served.

In his concluding statement, Combs claimed that he was a changed man following the trial, saying, “I can’t change the past but I can change the future. I ask your honour for mercy. I beg your honour for mercy. I ask your honour for a chance to be a father again… a son again… a leader in my community again… for a chance to get the help that I desperately need to be a better person because I don’t want to let God down, I don’t want to let my family down.”

The judge countered by saying that the rap mogul’s behaviour was not a byproduct of his lifestyle, telling the court, “You had the power and the resources to keep it going, and because you weren’t caught. You paid for and organised these acts. You were no John. You were responsible for that, even if your currency was sexual desires and not money.”

In a letter to the judge on the eve of the sentencing, Combs begged for leniency while taking responsibility for wrongdoing.

“I want to apologise and say how sincerely sorry I am for all of the hurt and pain that I have caused others by my conduct,” he wrote. “I take full responsibility and accountability for my past wrongs. This has been the hardest 2 years of my life, and I have no one to blame for my current reality and situation but myself.”

He added, “In my life, I have made many mistakes, but I am no longer running from them. I am so sorry for the hurt that I caused, but I understand that the mere words ‘I’m sorry’ will never be good enough as these words alone cannot erase the pain from the past.”

Combs has been behind bars at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024.

During his trial earlier this year, he was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
