A woman accused of opening fire on the Beverly Hills home of global pop star Rihanna allegedly posted threatening messages online just days before the shooting, according to reports.
Authorities say the suspect, identified as Ivanna Ortiz, was arrested after police tracked a vehicle connected to the incident. She now faces serious charges, including attempted murder, following the gunfire that targeted the residence Rihanna shares with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky.
The incident has triggered a major investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department, specifically its Robbery-Homicide Division.
Threatening Posts Before the Shooting
According to reports, Ivanna Ortiz allegedly posted several messages on Facebook in the days leading up to the incident.
One post reportedly tagged Rihanna directly and included hostile language aimed at the singer. Other posts shared on the account suggested growing anger toward the pop star.
Investigators are expected to review the social media activity as part of their broader inquiry into the motive behind the shooting.
What Happened at the Beverly Hills Property
Police say the shooting occurred outside the home Rihanna owns in Beverly Hills, California.
According to radio dispatch information reported by media outlets, witnesses heard multiple gunshots—at least ten rounds—fired from a vehicle before the driver fled the area.
Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a white Tesla with visible dirt along the lower panels. A police helicopter later spotted a vehicle matching that description in a parking lot in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, where officers arrested the suspect.
No injuries were reported.
At the time of the shooting:
-
Rihanna was reportedly at home
-
A$AP Rocky was not present
Sources close to the couple said they were initially unsure about the motive behind the attack.
Background of the Suspect
Public records indicate that Ivanna Ortiz has previously been arrested on several charges in Florida, including:
-
domestic violence
-
careless driving
-
violating pretrial release conditions
Court documents also show she filed an appeal late last year after losing custody of her child to a former partner.
Online, Ortiz presented a very different public image. She described herself as a Christian influencer and promoted a YouTube channel where she shared daily Bible readings and prayer guidance.
She also highlighted her participation in beauty pageants, claiming to have won Miss Teen Illinois Latina Princess in 2006.
Rihanna’s Beverly Hills Home
The property targeted in the incident is a luxury estate purchased by Rihanna in 2021.
Located in a quiet cul-de-sac in Beverly Hills, California, the residence sits on nearly half an acre and features:
-
five bedrooms
-
seven bathrooms
-
an open-air courtyard
-
a swimming pool
The neighborhood is known for its high-profile residents. Nearby homeowners have included stars such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Paul McCartney.
Investigation Continues
The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the shooting and review evidence related to the suspect’s online activity and movements before the incident.
Authorities have not yet publicly confirmed a motive.
For now, the case has raised new concerns about celebrity safety and the risks posed by individuals who use social media to direct threats at high-profile figures.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting, and investigators say the case is moving forward through the legal system.
