What Happened

Prosecutors allege that Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, of Orlando, Florida, fired several rounds toward Rihanna’s Beverly Hills–area property on Sunday afternoon.

At the time of the shooting:

  • Rihanna and her partner ASAP Rocky were inside a trailer on the property.

  • Other family members, including Rihanna’s mother and the couple’s children, were inside the main residence.

  • Staff members were also present.

Investigators say the bullets struck parts of the property, including the security gate and nearby structures, but no injuries were reported.

Criminal Charges Filed

Los Angeles County prosecutors filed 14 felony counts against Ortiz, including:

  • Attempted murder

  • 10 counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm

  • 3 counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or vehicle

The charges relate not only to Rihanna and her family but also to staff members and individuals in a neighboring home who were potentially put in danger.

If convicted on all counts, Ortiz could face life in prison.

Court Proceedings and Bail

During an initial court appearance, Ortiz appeared in custody wearing jail clothing and spoke with her attorney through a glass divider.

Her public defender initially entered a not-guilty plea but later withdrew it so the arraignment could be postponed. The next court date is scheduled for March 25.

A judge ordered Ortiz held on $1.8 million bail and issued strict conditions, including:

  • A protective order requiring her to stay away from Rihanna and A$AP Rocky

  • A ban on possessing firearms or ammunition

  • A prohibition on contacting the family or going near their residence

Investigation Still Ongoing

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman confirmed that investigators are still trying to determine:

  • Ortiz’s possible motive

  • Whether she had any prior connection to Rihanna

  • How long she had been in California before the incident

Officials have not publicly disclosed where the bullets landed or other details about the shooting.

Public records indicate Ortiz had most recently lived in Orlando and worked as a licensed speech pathologist for more than a decade.

A High-Profile Family

Rihanna—whose legal name is Robyn Fenty—is a nine-time Grammy winner with numerous chart-topping hits including:

  • Umbrella

  • We Found Love

  • Work

  • Disturbia

Beyond music, she founded the cosmetics brand Fenty Beauty, which has become one of the most successful celebrity beauty companies in the world.

She and A$AP Rocky (legal name Rakim Mayers) share three children, including daughter Rocki Irish Mayers, whose birth was announced in 2025.

Previous Security Incidents

This is not the first time Rihanna’s homes have faced security threats.

In 2018, a man broke into one of her properties in the Hollywood Hills and remained there for hours before being discovered. The intruder later pleaded no contest to felony stalking and vandalism charges.

Such incidents highlight the security challenges faced by global celebrities whose homes can become targets for obsessive fans or individuals seeking attention.

What Happens Next

The criminal case against Ortiz is still in its early stages. Investigators will continue gathering evidence and determining whether any additional charges or defendants could emerge.

For now, authorities say the swift arrest helped prevent further danger, and the court’s protective order is intended to ensure the safety of Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their family while the legal process moves forward.
