A serious legal case involving an alleged shooting at Rihanna’s home has taken another turn, with potential consequences that extend beyond the courtroom. While the criminal charges alone carry significant weight, the accused now faces the possibility of losing her professional career as well.

The woman accused of shooting at Rihanna's home, Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, 35, (pictured), is in jeopardy of losing her professional license as a speech-language pathologist

A High-Stakes Criminal Case

Earlier this month, Rihanna’s Beverly Hills property was targeted in a shooting while she and her family were present. Authorities later charged 35-year-old Ivanna Lisette Ortiz in connection with the incident.

According to prosecutors, Ortiz faces 14 charges, including attempted murder, multiple counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, and shooting into an inhabited dwelling. Officials have stated that, if convicted, she could face a sentence of up to life in prison.

During a press conference on March 10, Los Angeles District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman outlined the severity of the case. He noted that multiple people were allegedly placed in danger, including Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky, their children, her mother, staff members, and individuals in a neighboring residence.

Although no one was injured, authorities emphasized that the situation could have resulted in serious harm.

A Professional Future at Risk

Beyond the criminal case, Ortiz now faces another potential consequence: the loss of her license to practice as a speech-language pathologist.

Legal documents indicate that she has been licensed in California since 2016, with her certification set to remain valid through 2027. However, a member of the governing board overseeing her profession is pushing to have her barred from practicing if she is released from custody.

If she were to be granted bail or released on her own recognizance, the board is seeking to prevent her from working with the public in her professional capacity.

Details of the Allegations

Prosecutors allege that Ortiz fired multiple shots at Rihanna’s property, as well as toward a neighboring home. The charges reflect the number of individuals reportedly in the line of fire, with separate counts tied to each person involved.

At the time of the incident, Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were reportedly on the property along with their children and others. Authorities also stated that the property includes more than one dwelling, which contributed to the additional charges.

A judge has set bail at $1,875,000 and issued a protective order requiring Ortiz to stay away from Rihanna and Rocky. She has also been ordered to surrender any firearms.

Ongoing Investigation and Background

The motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. Law enforcement officials have indicated that the case is being handled by the LAPD’s Robbery–Homicide Division.

Reports also suggest that Ortiz had previously posted messages online referencing Rihanna, including critical and threatening content. However, no confirmed connection between the two has been established.

In addition, past legal issues involving Ortiz have been reported, including prior arrests unrelated to the current case.

A Case Still Unfolding

As Ortiz prepares for her arraignment, the situation continues to develop on multiple fronts. The legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the criminal charges, while professional regulators weigh whether she should be allowed to continue practicing in her field.

With both her freedom and career now in question, the case stands as a complex and evolving situation—one that extends far beyond a single incident and into broader consequences that may shape her future.
