Drake isn’t happy about a Canadian politician going to Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s show in Toronto. Jagmeet Singh, who served as the leader of the New Democratic Party between 2017 and 2025, attended one of the concerts at Rogers Centre, but Drizzy has called him out.
Kendrick performed in Drake’s hometown on June 12th and 16th, and Singh was spotted at a show. Drake took to his Instagram Stories to share a direct message he sent to the political figure, in which he wrote, “You’re a goof.”
Singh read Drake’s message and took to his social media page to apologise for attending the show, despite allegedly going to see SZA, not Kendrick.
“I went for SZA, not Kendrick,” he said. “I was born in this city, I love this city. But real talk, I get it. I shouldn’t have gone at all. OVO and Drake have lifted up this city and [Canada]. For me, it’ll always be Drake over Kendrick.”
Kendrick and Drake engaged in a rap battle in 2024, where they released various diss tracks, including the hit single ‘Not Like Us’. Kendrick’s show came after multiple artists on his former label, TDE, had their shows cancelled.
ScHoolboy Q wrote last year, “THey just canceled my sHow in Toronto. Canadian police don’t want nobody from TDE performing. TOP was just wit Wayne & Baby smH partynextdoor just Had a sHow @ tHe palladium if we wanted to get yall we would’ve just did it.. now wHen sumbody get Hurt don’t cry.”
SiR’s show was also cancelled, with the singer recently addressing the incident at a recent Toronto show. “So the venue in Toronto, which was partially owned by Drake, cancelled the show completely,” he said. “Then when we tried to switch venues, the next venue was like, ‘Nah we ain’t fucking with it, I ain’t taking no motherfucking chance.’”
