50 Cent sues ex-girlfriend for $1million over life rights

50 Cent is taking legal action against his ex-girlfriend. The G-Unit rapper has sued Shaniqua Tompkins for telling stories about him after allegedly signing over her life rights for $80,000 and future royalties.

50 claims Tompkins “irrevocably and exclusively” sold the rights to her life through his publishing company, G-Unit Books, in 2007. She allegedly agreed to “not publicly disclose, exploit, or otherwise commercialise any aspect of her life story or related rights”.

However, according to TMZ, G-Unit claims she shared a YouTube video called ‘Other Side of the Coin’, where she told the world she would tell “the untold truth of how she helped to build the G-Unit legacy and how Curtis ‘50-Cent’ Jackson wouldn’t be who he is today without her.”

To further the allegations, 50 claims she wrote on Instagram, “Fun fact: I ain’t never sell no [p*ssy],” in response to speculation around witnesses in Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial. She then allegedly told more stories about her experience with 50.

His attorney, Reena Jain, said, “Tompkins’ behaviour was intentional—she explicitly referenced the very agreement she breached while she actively breached it, stating it was something that was ‘going to have to be worked out legally.’”

She added, “Jackson purchased these rights to preserve them for use in future biographical or autobiographical projects, but also in part because he was concerned that Tompkins would attempt to monetise their history and his name. His concerns were ultimately proven correct.”

50 is suing Tompkins, the mother of his 28-year-old son, Marquise Jackson, for $1million over breach of contract and has asked the court to stop her from posting social media videos about him.

Following the news surfacing online, the rapper made fun of the lawsuit on Instagram, writing, “I didn’t realise how much she looks like me, girl you handsome with them baby hairs. LOL.”
