Selena Gomez and Karol G Agree: Eminem Was Their First Rap Obsession

While discussing music legends, pop stars Selena Gomez and Karol G bonded over a shared love for Eminem, who has made an early and lasting impression on both stars.

They sat down with Complex to swap picks for greatest pop stars, reggaetón artists, make-up trends, and rappers, and both named Eminem as a defining influence.

“The first rapper in my life that I was super obsessed with was Eminem”, said Karol G, before adding that Nicki Minaj is also among her all-time favourites.

Selena echoed the love: “One of mine was Eminem. I grew up listening to [him]. My dad was a DJ. He would remix all kinds of songs, and every time it was an Eminem song, I would get so excited”.

It is not the first time Eminem’s music has shown up in stories from today’s biggest pop stars, but it is always fun to hear how his records have left a lasting mark across genres and generations.
