The A-list parents prioritize normalcy and privacy for their kids.

Beyoncé and Jay-Z are no strangers to the limelight, having been in it for the better part of the last 30 years. They’ve made headlines, put out Grammy Award-winning songs and albums, and made billions of dollars. Beyoncé and Jay-Z also have three kids, who they do their best to protect from invasion of privacy. What they do share, though, is always a sweet family moment—whether that’s on the red carpet at awards shows or on the field at Super Bowl games.

Between the two of them, the Carters have 56 Grammy awards (35 for Beyoncé and 21 for Jay-Z). As a true power couple, they even won a Grammy for songs they created together—like “Crazy in Love”, “Drunk in Love”, “Everything is Love”, and “Savage.” But their accomplishments also include being parents to their three children.

Keep reading to learn everything Beyoncé and Jay-Z have shared about their three kids: Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir Carter.

Blue Ivy

Beyoncé lookalike daughter Blue Ivy was born on January 7, 2012 in New York City. Two days later, Jay-Z recorded her vocals and later featured them on his track “Glory,” making her the youngest person ever to have a song appear on a Billboard chart.

More recently, Blue joined her mom on stage in both Dubai and Stockholm, the latter of which was the inaugural city for Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour. “My beautiful first born 🙏🏾 I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama,” the “Single Ladies” singer wrote on Instagram following the show. “You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.”

Blue then made her onscreen debut with the role of Kiara in Mufasa: The Lion King. Beyoncé played her character’s mother, Nala, and later told Good Morning America that Blue did “such a beautiful job.”

“I’m just proud of you,” she told Blue. “I’m so proud of you and I can’t believe how big and grown up you are. And I’m proud that she’s gonna represent so many young brown girls around the world. Nobody’s prouder than mommy.”

At the 2025 Grammy Awards, Beyoncé would once again be proud of her daughter—who many fans are lovingly saying is the “Formation” singer’s manager. When Beyoncé won Best Country Album, she was visibly shocked. In true manager fashion, Blue Ivy gently nudged her mom to accept the award.

Blue has since joined her mom on stage each night of the Cowboy Carter Tour, serving as a back up dancer for several numbers and even strutting down the stage to her mom’s 2006 hit “Déjà Vu” (which also features her dad, Jay-Z.)

Rumi and Sir

Beyoncé and Jay-Z welcomed their twins Rumi and Sir on June 13, 2017 in Los Angeles. “Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” Jay-Z explained in August 2017. “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir.”

Four years later, the twins stepped in front of the camera alongside Blue for an Ivy Park x Adidas photoshoot. Grandma Tina Knowles then confirmed their growing interest in fashion during an exclusive interview with People.

“Well, they are little fashionistas, and they have definite determination about what they like and what they don’t like,” she told the publication. “When Beyoncé’s doing the first samples, they get them, and some things they love, and some things you can tell are not their favorite.”

There’s also something to be said about Rumi’s love for sports—or at least her public appearance at the 2024 Super Bowl with her big sis Blue and her father Jay-Z. She’d make another cameo at the big game in 2025, which took place in New Orleans, alongside both of her parents.

As for their musical sensibilities? Rumi made her debut on her mom’s track “Protector” from her first-ever country album, Cowboy Carter. She became the youngest female artist in history to hit the Billboard 100.

Most recently, during the Cowboy Carter tour, Rumi made an on-stage appearance when the star sang “Protector.” At just seven years old, she proved she is her mother’s daughter. She stole the show (opening night in L.A., no less) by coming on stage and sweetly waving to the audience while she held her mama’s hand.
